When web videos load slowly or stutter during playback, it is often due to an unsuitable video format. WEBM is an open format based on VP8/VP9 encoding, specifically designed for web optimization. This tool converts common video formats like MP4 and AVI to WEBM, reducing file size by 30%-50% on average while maintaining excellent image quality.
How do I know if a video is suitable for WEBM conversion?
Animations, tutorial videos, and other low-to-medium dynamic scenes yield the best conversion results. For 4K high-framerate videos, we recommend keeping the original format.
Which is clearer: WEBM or MP4?
At the same bitrate, the image quality is comparable, but WEBM offers a higher compression rate. We recommend choosing WEBM when using VP9 encoding.
Please keep the page active when converting long videos. We recommend trimming the video before converting. Browser incognito/private modes may affect local storage.
Typical conversion example: A 1280×720 MP4 video (5MB) converts to a WEBM file of approximately 3.2MB. For web embedding, we recommend setting the preload="auto" attribute in the video tag. Note that Safari versions below 14 require an additional MP4 fallback source.
